Schoolteacher Emad and his wife, Rana, are an Iranian couple performing in his production of Death of a Salesman. While alone in their new apartment, Rana is viciously attacked. Emad takes matters into his own hands to track down her assailant.

This 2016 Academy Award winner is a psychological and moral drama about how one man’s anger and damaged self-image drive him to the brink of destroying the very thing he ostensibly most wants to protect.

The Salesman is a typically wrenching film for Farhadi, one that morphs from a quiet family drama to a low-key tale of revenge, and is all the more impressive for how seamlessly it executes that shift.
