Toronto’s Villaways neighbourhood is viewed by some as a slum, but for 12-year-old Francine Valentine it is home. With the area facing a massive redevelopment that will displace most of its residents, Francine finds an outlet in her writing. She may lack self-confidence, but her style and candid commentary speak to a deep humanity that flows within the community. This cinematic rendering of our universal need for self-expression and belonging is a two-time winner of Best Canadian Documentary awards.
