After living a wild life in London, Rona returns to her home on the wild Orkney Islands to overcome her alcoholism and to find the strength to rebuild her life. While still shouldering the burden of growing up with a bipolar father, as well as struggling with her own addiction issues, Rona finds her way to rehabilitate herself through her work as a biologist, the support of her mother, and the kindness of her neighbours.
Based on a memoir by Amy Liptrot, this is ultimately an uplifting story of atonement and the healing power of nature, enhanced by the stunning Orkney Island landscape.
