The Other Side of Hope

This richly textured film centres on a Finnish shirt salesman who leaves his alcoholic wife and buys a failing restaurant, and Khaled, a Syrian refugee. Khaled finds a job at the restaurant but runs afoul of racists and there is only so much that the local community can do.
Compassionate and wryly funny by turns, this droll, deadpan consideration of the European refugee crisis is a deeply humane film.
