Sometime in the future, the Brazilian government has implemented a policy of sending persons of 75 and older to a colony, to conserve resources and presumably to comfortably live the last years of their lives. Teresa, who at 77 was still working in a factory, defies the order to leave and instead embarks on a journey seeking her one dream: to ride in an airplane.
Although she has some resources, including her life savings and her own determination, she is challenged by needing her daughter’s permission to even buy a ticket and by being sought by authorities. Despite these obstacles Teresa is able to undertake a somewhat magical journey through the lush Amazon region and to find adventure, friendship and independence.
