In a vast public park on the outskirts of Portland, Oregon, reclusive veteran Will (who suffers from PTSD) and his thirteen-year-old daughter Tom live off-grid in camouflaged encampments, moving regularly to evade detection. A chance encounter with hikers leads to their detention and interrogation by government agencies. This immensely moving story portrays the love of a father and daughter. But it’s also a coming-of-age tale, where Tom’s emerging identity becomes a catalyst for changes that are inevitable.
