Dan is a middle-aged construction worker whose grief at the death of his only son manifests as rage, causing his employer to put him on leave. At the same time his daughter Daisy’s anger has caused her to be suspended from school. Dan accidentally, or perhaps serendipitously, joins a local amateur theatre group in a production of Romeo and Juliet. The play’s plot turns out to be too close for comfort.
Dan is reluctant to tell his wife about his rehearsals, but Daisy follows him, discovers the troupe and quickly joins them, allowing her to return to her acting pursuits. In the end, the camaraderie of his fellow actors and being forced to explore his feelings allows Dan and the family to begin to heal. The film is enhanced by touching performances by the entire cast.
