He was a postal clerk; she was a public librarian. The captivating, incredible, multiaward-winning true story of Herb and Dorothy Vogel, who, within their extremely modest means, and one-bedroom New York apartment, managed to build one of the most important contemporary art collections in history. Their shared passion and discipline defied stereotypes and redefined what it means to be an art collector.

Director Megumi Sasaki has created a follow-up film: Herb & Dorothy 50 X 50 which captures the last chapter of the Vogel’s extraordinary life and their gift to the nation, raising various questions on art, and what it takes to support art in today’s society.
