Director: Christian Petzold.

"A haunting portrait of identity, loss and the search for answers in post-WWII Berlin.” — Scott Foundas, Variety

A disfigured concentration-camp survivor, unrecognizable after facial reconstruction surgery, searches ravaged postwar Berlin for the husband she still loves, but who might have betrayed her to the Nazis. When she finds him, he does not recognize her, but proposes a devious partnership. Both a compelling mystery and uneasy love story, Phoenix is a brilliant encapsulation of how people cope (or refuse to cope) with tragedy.
