SPECIAL EVENT: Live music by The Knotty Dotters Marimba Band

Fanie Fourie's Lobola

South Africa, 2012, 91min, comedy. English, Zulu and Afrikaans with English subtitles.
Director: Henk Pretorius

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry. Fanie, an Afrikaner man who restores wrecked cars, meets — as part of a dare — Dinky, a Zulu woman with a degree and business ambitions. And given that they live in contemporary South Africa, there is a price to be paid. In this case, it’s her lobola (dowry). Cultures clash, sparks fly, and hearts melt in this delightful, character-driven romantic comedy.

" ... a crowd-pleaser — a romantic comedy that's fresh, entertaining, heartwarming, street smart and sweet. It's bold to tackle an interracial romance, it's bolder to turn it into a comedy."  Spling, June 2014.
