Fall 2012 October 15 in Gibsons SPECIAL EVENT WITH LIVE MUSIC
Canada 2011, 93 min., drama
Director: Thom Fitzgerald
Film buffs cannot but be enchanted by this quirky, poignant, and (alert!) profane film about a devoted lesbian couple from Maine. After Dotty is hustled into a nursing home by her granddaughter, Stella and Dotty embark on a wild and eccentric road trip to Nova Scotia where they can be legally married. Reviewer Scott Bassart enthused: “The pairing of Oscar winners Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker as cranky old bats who love one another unconditionally is cinematic gold!” The film critic for Edmonton’s Gig City called it “The best menopausal lesbian road trip movie ever made!”
SPECIAL EVENT: Live music! Guest performance by Canadian folksinger Penny Lang.
"Lang’s eighth album, Stone + Sand + Sea + Sky, on Borealis Records caps a remarkable four decade career during which this delightful 63-year old singer-guitarist has evolved from being a coffeehouse draw in her Montreal hometown to being one of Canada’s leading roots-based artists." - Penny Lang's website.
