USA 2009, 83 min, animated, drama/ comedy
Directors: Paul Fierlinger, Sandra Fierlinger
Writers: J.R. Ackerley (novel), Paul Fierlinger (screenplay)

This whimsical tale is a must-see for all animal lovers. A story of genuine companionship and unwavering commitment, the bond between this curmudgeon of a man and his German shepherd is sure to make you smile. Based on the semi-biographical novel by J.R. Ackerley and narrated by Christopher Plummer, My Dog Tulip is the story of an elderly man’s heartwarming friendship with his dog.

Confirmed bachelor Ackerley is not an animal person . . . until he adopts 18-month-old Tulip late in his life. Based on shared experiences from the 16 years of Tulip's life, this candid story is filled with subtle insight and observations on all types of relationships—human or not.

The story is self-reflective, tender, and humourous as Ackerley recounts memories of his “ideal friend” Tulip and their adventures together. The wonderfully styled animation by award-winning animators Paul and Sandra Fierlinger is a perfect fit for Ackerley’s memoirs.
